Welcome

Welcome to the Ottawa Chapter of Celiac Canada, formerly known as the Canadian Celiac Association. We're here to support residents of eastern and northern Ontario and southwestern Quebec in adapting to a gluten-free lifestyle, and we also support research, education, lobbying and events for Celiac Canada. We span from Ottawa, to Peterborough, to North Bay, to Sudbury.

Membership in the chapter provides access to informative speakers, research toward treatment for celiac disease and gluten sensitivity, work with restaurants to provide safe, gluten-free dining options, informational newsletters, discounts at area businesses, and so much more. We would greatly appreciate your membership or donations!

From guest speakers to vendor fairs to pizza, spaghetti, potluck, or other food events and information sessions for newly diagnosed, the Ottawa Chapter hosts a number of exciting events each year. Celiac Disease

Celiac disease is a medical condition in which the absorptive surface of the small intestine is damaged by a number of proteins found in grains, and referred to collectively as 'gluten'. This results in an inability of the body to absorb nutrients: protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, which are necessary for good health. Read more....

Liaison

This is the first point of contact with the Chapter for those needing help to navigate celiac disease, the gluten-free diet, or if they are seeking more about information about Celiac Canada / the Canadian Celiac Association. We provide information via telephone or occasional mailed pamphlets, or in the case of organizations such as restaurants, retirement homes, and interest groups in general, by delivering appropriate lectures and presentations. We may be reached via our contact page. Please note that we cannot provide medical advice or patient referrals.
